What should we do?

I guess you should know that one or just the band with their beats and sounds. The White Stripes is an American duo rocking for almost 14 years breaking up in 2011. The band was consisting of Jack and Meg White. For a long time there was an issue if they are just a brother and a sister or a married couple. The truth is neither of them, they are a divorced pair being friends and working together. And Jack took Meg's surname after their marriage, so here we are - The White Stripes!

Icky Thump is taken from an album of the same name and was released in 2007. Later on Jack was involved in another project (The Dead Weather), but The White Stripes still released a concert film Under Great White Northern Lights, which is worth seeing if you are into this music! Also the couple appeared on a classic film Coffee and Cigarettes.

Pizzoli.

I thought that I should definitely rebuild my blog on the behalf of my Erasmus year in Italy. Even though I've been there already for 5 months, there are still some months to go, hence there is still time to share my thoughts!

So where the hell am I?
I live in a small town called Pizzoli and I study in L'Aquila in the region Abruzzo. You may have heard about a huge earthquake that happened in 2009 and destroyed a vast area of the nearby cities and towns. Despite 7 years, the city is not yet recovered nor repaired and the money established for the repairs are nowhere to find due to the mafia and the typical "politics" issues.

What am I doing here?
As you know I study. I study Mathematical Engineering in Czech Republic and so it is similar in here. Differential equations, functional analysis and some Fluid Dynamics or Mechanics.

How long am I staying?

I came here in September 2015 and I should be coming back during July (hopefully in June:)).

Did I know Italian before I came here?
Like "Ciao", "Come stai?", "Pizza, pasta, presto!" and maybe counting to ten. I am sloooowly learning how to speak, but it ain't easy as I am not used to learning another language for a long time!

You can soon await my comments about the living and even the struggles we have to deal with during our stay. Not to be too critical, I will also add some positive things:)

Love is Noise.

Are we blind, can we see? 

We are one, incomplete.

Love is Noise is a song from one of my most favourite albums ever made. Forth was published in 2008 as the fourth and also the last album by an excellent English band called the Verve (you probably know them because of Bittersweet Symphony) after their reunion. Each song is a piece of a puzzle, which cannot be skipped, deleted nor substituted, it makes the album compact and complete, like a story. The lyrics of this particular song are taken off William Blake's poem And did those feet in ancient time (Jerusalem).

I picked this song today as it is Valentine's Day even though I don't celebrate it. Still this day deserves a beautiful song. Enjoy!

Little Armenia.

Jaká vlastně ta Arménie je? Otázka je to věru těžká, protože má mnoho správných odpovědí - krásná, pohostinná, svá a spousta dalších přídavných jmen. Pokusím se ale svoje poznatky tak nějak shrnout.

Skříň.

Dneska jsem si konečně tak trochu splnila sen - mám novou skříň! I když vlastně není tak úplně nová, je jenom vylepšená a opravená! Přináším vám tedy report o tom, jak jsem tvořila!
Moje skříň původně byla dřevěného vzhledu, jak můžete vidět na tmavším lemování. Takže bylo nutné trošku odstranit původní velmi starý lak (minimálně 15 let) a potom přetřít barvou.

Co je třeba:
šmirgl papír (hrubší asi 60, jemnější asi 120), barva na dřevo, štětce, nějaký smetáček a přinejlepším venkovní prostředí

Postup:

• Nejdříve hrubším šmirglem odstraníme zbytky starého laku, nečistot nebo nějakých odřenin, zkrátka do hruba sjednotíme celý povrch.
• Jemnějším šmirglem potom povrch trochu zcelíme, snažte se nezapomenout na žádná místa. Oškrábání nemusí být přímo viditelné, ale po hmatu poznáte, že už je horní vrstva pryč.
• Důležitým krokem je nezapomenout odstranit zbytky - piliny a prach, až potom si nachystáme samotnou barvu.
• Koupila jsem Balakryl, který je vodou ředitelný, takže jsem nepotřebovala žádné ředidlo. Nátěr krásně na sluníčku schnul, takže jsem druhý mohla provádět vcelku v dohledné době, zhruba za 1,5 hodiny.

A to je vlastně všechno. Zdá se to pracné, což vlastně trochu je, ale jenom to šmirglování, mám z toho dotrhané ruce a všechno mě bolí, ale když na to člověk má speciální nástavce či co, tak je to jedna dvě. Samotná barva se nanáší jedna radost a hned bylo všechno hotovo.
Celé mi to trvalo jeden den při krásném slunečném počasí (proto jsem celá spálená), tak dva dny, když nebude úplně krásně. Cenově vše vychází do 300 Kč, takže určitě lepší, než kupovat novou skříň!
